MYSA Select Soccer Program
The MYSA’s Select program is an academy style program designed to provide U8-U10 players with a strong and fun development environment for them to improve their soccer skills before moving into U11 competitive travel. Select players receive professional soccer training once a week from Premier UK Academy trainers.
We are often asked if this is an ‘Academy’ program. It is not an official NCYSA U10 Academy Program. Instead, we felt a hybrid approach was better for the development of young soccer players. We’ve combined the best parts of Academy with a team oriented structure.
Academy Similarities
- Program overseen by a USSF National Youth License certified Director
- Teams pool train once a week with professional trainers
- Player development is the primary focus of the program
- Players play a minimum of 50% of each match
- No scores or standings are kept
- All coaches are Youth II certified – many are experienced travel coaches
- Teams are balanced. There are no ‘A’ or ‘B’ teams
Improvements over Academy
- Players are part of teams for the entire year
- Teams play a normal schedule of matches instead of intermittent festivals
- Teams are allowed to attend tournaments and/or festivals if they desire
Our Select teams play in the North Carolina Champions League, founded by the Triangle United Soccer Association and Cary Football Club. Opponents include teams from TUSA, CASL, Cary FC, Johnston United, Sanford, Holly Springs, and more. Please note that Select matches are played on Sunday afternoons. The reason for this is NCCL clubs try to use the most experienced coaches for their NCCL teams, and thus many also coach older travel teams which mainly play on Saturdays. Teams usually play 8-10 matches in a season. The cost of our Select program is less than older travel teams to allow families to experience travel soccer without the full financial commitment of an older travel team. Players receive two uniforms, a soccer bag, and a soccer ball. If you have any questions about our Select program, please contact the program’s director at [email protected]
