2012 MYSA Fundraiser
Our program has seen amazing growth in the past 10 years. We started with a few hundred kids playing behind South Mebane Elementary in 2002. Now we serve over 1300 children on 100+ teams in 5 different levels of play. We are the 9th largest NCYSA Recreational Soccer Program in NC and were voted NCYSA Recreation League of the Year in 2008. With this amazing growth, we also have added significant wear and tear on our fields, additional equipment needs, costs to rent additional field space, and much more.
To help offset rising costs for equipment, additional training programs, field maintenance, and many other things not normally covered by registration fees, the MYSA has decided to hold an annual fundraiser. We have partnered with Help R Youth Fundraising to sell savings coupon cards. These cards contain 48 coupons for area merchants and businesses! You can often save more than the cost of a booklet just by using only a couple of the coupons included!
Your TEAM can receive direct benefits!
Recreational teams that sell an average of:
- 5+ Cards Per Player: Players will receive their end of season mementos
- 4 -5 Cards Per Player: Each player will receive an MYSA T-Shirt
- 3-4 Cards Per Player: Each player will receive an aluminum water bottle
MYSA will fund an end of season party for the TOP THREE Recreation Teams with the highest average of cards sold per player!
- Travel Teams earn a percentage of sales (25%) to use towards equipment, tournaments, travel costs, etc.
What Are The Cards?
Each accordion fold card contains 48 coupons for area merchants that can provide you with significant savings. A sampling of merchants included are:
- Omega Sports
- Martinho’s Bakery and Deli
- Pomodoro’s Italian Kitchen
- McDonalds, Subway, Dominos Pizza
- Eastern Auto Spa
- Andy’s Burgers, Shakes, and Fries
It is VERY easy to save MUCH more than the $10 Purchase Price!
How Does It Work?
- In mid April, each player will receive the cards from their team manager.
- Players are encouraged to sell their cards to family, friends, and neighbors.
- If your child sells all of the cards they received, simply ask your team manager for additional ones to sell.
- The fundraiser will run through April 30th. At the end of the sales period, players will be expected to return any unsold cards OR the money received from cards they’ve sold to their team manager. Please turn all funds / cards in to your Team Manager NO LATER THAN Monday, April 30th.
- YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR UNSOLD CARDS!. They only need to be returned at the end of the fundraiser.
- After we have received all unsold cards and money from sales, we will tally everything up and provide teams with their earned prizes/awards.
It’s that easy!
I already pay $$$ for my child to play – isn’t that enough?
Our fields are in very bad shape due to the amount of use they get each season. Since our soccer complex opened, we have DOUBLED the number of players who participate in our programs, resulting in much wear and tear on our fields. A sizable portion of funds raised this year will go towards revitalizing and repairing our soccer fields. We hope to ‘sprig’ the fields with new turf and work through the summer to ensure we have thick grass across every field by September. This is not an inexpensive endeavor. We also are seeing higher costs for net repair, the need for additional seating throughout the field, and much more.
We strive to keep our fees as low as possible while still providing an excellent soccer program at all levels. We believe we provide one of the best soccer values in NC. Our hope is that by holding a fundraiser, we can tap an additional source of revenue without requiring a substantial increase in our fees and still repair our facilities and improve our programs.
This is not your average fundraiser. Depending on overall sales, together the league and it’s teams will earn 50%of total sales! We hope the usefulness of the cards, plus the direct benefits (team rewards, field & facility improvements, program improvements, etc.) will encourage most of you to participate and help build and improve our league! Besides the benefits to the league, you can usually save MORE than the cost of a card by visiting just a few of the included local merchants! We’re excited about this fundraiser because we can often save our families more money than they spent on the card, while still raising money to help our teams and league.
Frequently Asked Questions…
Below are a few common questions we’ve already gotten from people. We’ll add more as the fundraiser takes place, so if you have questions – let us know!
Do I have to pay for cards my child does not sell?
NO! Simply return any unsold cards to your team manager along with the money you received from cards you or your child were able to sell
My child only got 2 cards - what if we can sell more?
Contact your team manager and let them know you need additional cards. They can contact the fundraiser coordinator to get you additional cards to sell.
I heard travel teams get most of the money raised
That is simply not true. The league will receive 50% of all sales depending on the number of cards we sell. The league chose to ensure that about half of the money raised by each team go to the team itself and that is true for Recreational AND Travel teams. Due to differences in Recreation and Travel, we chose different methods of rewarding teams for their sales. But they are just about equivalent for all teams.
Why do travel teams get a percentage instead of shirts and awards?
Travel teams have different costs and needs than recreational teams. Very few travel teams do end of season awards or parties. However they often attend out of town tournaments, which can cost $500+ per team. So in order to provide a decent incentive for ALL teams, we decided to try and give all teams the benefit of approximately 25% of their sales. For travel teams, it is money to use towards tournaments and equipment. For Rec teams, it’s for shirts, awards, and a party subsidy that add up to roughly 25% of sales in terms of what they cost. So in the end, all teams, recreational and travel, get approximately the same benefit in terms of the number of booklets sold and the benefit received.
I own a local business – can I sell the cards in my store?
Sure! Simply make sure you return the received money in place of cards received. You cannot charge more than $10. Contact Leslie Cheek at [email protected] to obtain additional cards.
When do the cards expire?
March 1, 2013
