MYSA Dynamo win TFC Columbus Day Classictagbo | November 2, 2013
On the Columbus Day Weekend, October 12-13, the U13 MYSA Dynamo attended the Triangle Futbol Club (TFC) Columbus Day Classic. The Dynamo did more than have a nice showing. They won the White Division made up of 12 very strong clubs, taking home the first place trophy.
The tournament started quite well on Saturday with a shut out win against the CASL Predators, 2-0. In the afternoon the Dynamo beat a scrappy CASL Premier White Club, 2-1. With a record of 2 wins and 0 losses, the Dynamo won their group and surged into the semi-final round, scheduled to play a TFC Raleigh White team that had also won their group. Expecting a battle from a strong TFC Raleigh White club, the Dynamo was ready. In a hard fought battle the Dynamo won in a shutout 3-0. In the other Semi-final, two more TFC teams battled with TFC Wake Black coming out on top, setting up the Final with the Dynamo.
The final opened as a defensive struggle, with both teams throwing everything at each other and the defenses standing tall. At the half, it was 0-0. The second half was a different story with the Dynamo chipping away at the defenses of the TFC Wake Black team. Methodically, the Dynamo scored three goals giving up none. The Dynamo won the final, 3-0.
This extraordinary Dynamo team started in the back end on defense. The goalies only gave up one goal in four games. They were Macon Lawrence and Oz Lopez. The back line was manned throughout the weekend by Jose Lesso, Alex Martinez, Jacob Hyle , Sebastian Huerta and Kevin Rios. To use a football metaphor, the quarterbacks who ran the show were the center mid-fielders, Julio Garcia-Lopez and Jay Castillo. The outside midfielders, Cameron Michalski, Jordi Trejo and Jayden Velez dominated the outside offensively and defensively. The forwards, Alex Burke, Alex Kreider, Luke Hawks and Macoy Wood, were excellent as well, scoring 5 of the Dynamo’s 10 goals on the weekend.
Congratulations to Coach Ski and the Dynamo!!
