2012-2013 Season Wrapuptagbo | September 2, 2013
As the 2013-2014 soccer season begins, the Mebane Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) can look back at a successful 2012-2013 season. MYSA ended the 2012-2013 year on a high note with both the travel and recreational soccer programs growing in size. MYSA’s commitment to long term player development continued to bear fruit with record numbers of players going on to play soccer at various colleges and universities.
MYSA travel teams had great success at end of year tournaments. The MYSA Revolution continued their domination of the Annual Seaside Classic Tournament with their third championship in a row. The MYSA Dynamo also won their division while the MYSA Hurricanes and Comets placed as Finalists and Semi-Finalists respectively.
The MYSA Inferno also claimed several successes at the end of the year. In addition to their Disney Showcase championship where they defeated the prestigious IMG Academy, they collected several awards and trophies. The Inferno finished second in their NCYSA Kepner Cup bracket while also bringing home the gold in the Julian Brown Memorial Cup and the ACC Hall of Champions Showcase. MYSA and the Inferno continued their tradition of player development with 7 players being selected to play college soccer.
MYSA players also achieved individual accolades. Several MYSA players were selected to be part of the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association’s (NCYSA) Olympic Development Program (ODP). Two MYSA players helped North Carolina defeat South Carolina in the annual Clash of the Carolinas while MYSA was also represented in the North Carolina East-West All Star game. Jacob Mann, an MYSA player, was a member of the Premier UK Elite team that captured the US Club Soccer National U15 Premier Division Championship in Aurora, CO on July 20th.
