MYSA Inferno Slay Soccer Giants on Road to Disney Finals
tagbo | March 13, 2013The Mebane Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) U18 Inferno placed as 2013 Finalists at the recently held Disney President’s Day Festival in Orlando, Florida. On their way to the finals the Inferno shutout the prestigious IMG Soccer Academy.
In the group stage of the tournament, the Inferno faced off against teams from Colorado, Georgia, and Florida. They lost one game to the #1 team in Georgia, Darlington School Soccer Academy, 3-1. After that loss, they stormed back to beat Westside 94 Eagles Navy 3-1. In their final group stage match they tied Prostar of Colorado, 1-1.
Coming out of the group stage, the team drew IMG Soccer Academy, home to a U.S. Soccer Federation Development Academy. The Inferno Davids faced down the IMG Goliath and came out on the other side of that match with a shutout win, 3-0. That result thrust them into the finals, which they lost in a tight match to the Darlington School Soccer Academy, ranked #1 in Georgia.
With their recent performance, the MYSA Inferno are now ranked #3 in North Carolina, #20 in the Region, and #152 in the nation according to gotsoccer.com.
