U12 MYSA Hurricanes Cross State Lines, Bring Back Gold
tagbo | November 21, 2012The U12 MYSA Hurricanes captured the top spot in their division at the recently completed Piedmont Shootout in Martinsville, VA. In their group the Hurricanes played against teams from Portsmouth, VA and Richmond, VA. In the first match against the U12 Portsmouth Chaos team, the Hurricanes went down 0-1 in the first few minutes of the match, but controlled the rest of match and came away with a 6-2 victory. In the second match, the Hurricanes jumped out to a 5 goal halftime lead and cruised to defeat the U12 Richmond Kickers Collegiate Charge 9-1 to secure the #1 seed in their bracket.
On Sunday, the Hurricanes played the #2 seed in the opposite half of the division, a West Virginia Rapids team from Beckley, WV, The Hurricanes continued their strong play and beat the WV team, 7-0 to advance to the championship round. The Hurricanes met the Richmond Kickers Collegiate Charge team again in the finals. The Hurricanes took a 2-0 lead into halftime, and were able to hold on to win 3-2 to win the U12 girls division.
